President’s Lifetime 14
President’s Lifetime
Achievements Award
Achievements Award
County chairman Selwyn Goldsmith was pre-
sented with the president's lifetime achievement
award by president Brian Saunders and vice pres-
ident Bob Oatway on Sunday at the associations
AGM held at Wymondham community centre.
Selwyn who first took the chairman’s position
back in 1996/97 has worked tirelessly since then
in making the association run smooth and putting
the sports interests first in Norfolk by visiting clubs
and organising events whether it be by fundraising
or just trying to get more people to uptake the
sport.
Selwyn has also been press officer since
1992/93 and continually works hard to put articles
in the Eastern Daily Press every week. Current
years have seen more press coverage for short mat bowls and with social media and the associ-
ations new website giving people more notice of what is going on in the sport on a daily basis and
this is mainly due to the hard work Selwyn has put in and how quickly he delivers it.
Since 2012/13 Selwyn has also been manager of the county team and with his leadership
led Norfolk to their first ICC premier title in twenty years beating Essex in the final in 2015/16. It's
fair to say Selwyn is one of the sport’s biggest advocates and his hard work and commitment over
the years has definitely showed that and is every bit deserving of this award.

Triples, Pairs, and Singles were
played, which meant 6 players from
each club took part, each playing 3

winning ways.
At this stage, Banwell had 12 points and Burrowbridge had 11. However, Banwell lost
the final Triples and Pairs as Burrowbridge won theirs, so although Chris Wilson of Banwell
beat Phil Durman in the singles, Burrowbridge held on by a single point. Clarence Park nar-
rowly beat Cheddar to pinch 3rd place. During the day, we held a raffle which added to the
days profit of £428. With so much help given by club members, of which 2, will present a
cheque of £500 to the Children's Hospice, at Wraxall, N. Somerset.
