The sudden death extra end saw the lead
change with every bowl and it was with the
last delivery of the game that McParland drew
the shot to squeeze home 14 - 13.
The junior pairs also went to an extra end with
Monaghan's Kyle Gillanders and Mark Hamilton tied
13 - 13 after the 15 ends with East Antrim's Andrew
Conley and Adam McKeown. Again it was a last
bow decider with McKeown drawing shot giving the
East Antrim pair victory.
The day concluded with 3 singles finals. The
ladies final was dominated by Armagh's Pauline

with Mrs Flo McNally whose expe-
rience proved
too much for Lisburn's Marie Corey as she ran out winner
by 17 - 3. Pauline, as the score indicates was in complete
control with her less experienced opponent not reaching the
heights of the qualifying stages. This win not just retained
the title but gave Pauline her 6th Ladies Singles Title.
The junior
final was
history in Singles winner John Quinn
the making with Mrs Flo McNally
with Oriel's
Shane Hand winning the title for the 3rd succes-
sive year and the 4th in total with a comfortable
win over Larne's Dale Bodles.
The men's final was expected to be a classic
between two experienced internationals in Oriel's
Kevin Conroy and Donegal's John Quinn but it did
Ladies Triples winners Rachel Cassells, not materialise with Quinn in control throughout
May Cassells & Pauline Beattie and Conroy not performing at the level he is capa-
with IIBA President Mrs Flo McNally ble off. Quinn claimed his second title of the day
14 - 7.
The ladies triples proved to be another win for Armagh's highly experienced Pauline Beattie,
Rachel Cassells and May Cassells. They were in total control from the outset against West Down's
Angela Cannaway, Virginia Leckey and Annie Burrell winning 16 - 3. This was Pauline's 5th triples
win in the last 7 years.
The men's zone final featured Oriel , winners in 2014 and hot favourites to become the first zone
to retain the title since Mid Ulster back in 2003 and Western Zone winners on 7 previous occasions.
Oriel have a very talented side full of international, national champions, British Isles and World
winners but have not always been able to withstand the pressure in finals and last year could well
have lost surprisingly to Foyle when the Foyle team came back from being well behind but Oriel
Triumphed in the end
This year it was again a final of two halves but not one of the quality one might have hoped
for. In the first half Oriel were very disappointing with only Sean Trainor, Aiden Conroy and Shane
Hand playing the quality bowls expected and indeed had it not been for Trainor himself, the half
time deficit would have been very much grearter and one Oriel might not have recovered from.
