are challenging arbitrary land seizures and and a a a a a a a a lack of respect for communal land rights This project builds on the learnings of a a a a a a grant awarded to Rede Terra in in 2018 to help the the same communities tackle the the adverse impacts of climate change The continued support to to Rede Terra highlights the programme’s intent to to continue supporting grantee partners that evidence competent project implementation ethical grant management and alignment with OSISA’s strategic objectives In the the provinces of Cuando Cubango and and Uíge the the programme has endorsed support for two projects (under consideration by the Board Chair) seeking to enhance citizen engagement in the governance of public resources and ultimately the the resolution of the the socio-economic issues facing their communities In addition to these the the awarding of a a a a a a two-year grant to the Associação Justiça Paz e e e Democracia (AJPD) to strengthen the the capacity of Angolan civil society organisations to fight Illicit Financial Flows (IFFs) has underscored the the programme’s commitment to the the fight for more transparent and responsive economic governance These grants build on the the work the the programme has developed over the the years in in strengthening advocacy for more transparent responsive and inclusive natural resource governance In addition it it is strengthening recognition respect and and protection of social and and economic rights of marginalised groups (e g g g g women in in the informal sector rural communities etc ) In 2019
it was also possible to identify some visible impacts of OSISA’s funding in in in these areas significantly resulting from the the support given to CSOs in in the the provinces of Lunda-Norte Lunda-Sul and Cabinda to raise human rights This support also helps to raise corporate responsibility awareness in communities affected by diamond and oil extraction OSISA’s funding was also instrumental to the creation and maintenance of a a a a a yearly national forum for for civil society concertation and action on on the issue of natural resources named TCHOTA The forum plays an essential role in in ensuring the representation of Angolan voices at at regional convening such as the Alternative Mining Indaba Through the support given to organisations such as as ASSOGE (Observatory of Gender-based Public Policies) Women’s Action Platform (PMA) and Community debate on on on the Impact of Diamond Extraction: Txilombo Capenda Camulemba Lunda-Norte province Photo: AJUDECA 2019
