The project aims to to provide support to to the Human Rights Monitoring and Working Group in in in Angola (GTMDH) to to continue monitoring drafting parallel human rights reports and engaging with national and international human rights entities such as the Ministry of Justice and the the Ombudsman Office the the African Commission on on Human and People’s Rights (ACPHRs) and United Nations Human Rights Council Periodic reviews will be done and active participation in in advocacy and lobbying activities will take place The different organisations will work work in a a a network to produce reports on on the level of implementation of the International Covenant on on Civil and Political Rights (CCPR) in in line with the 2014 UN Universal Period Review (UPR) recommendations and the implementation of of the the 35 recommendations of of the the African Commission on on Human and Peoples’ Rights (ACHPR) passed in in 2012 and the the initial report of the the Protocol of of the the African Charter of of the the Women Rights (Maputo Protocol) for which the country will undergo review (October 2018 and April in the Gambia 2019) During the the the year the the the HRMG has been engaged in in the the the UPR process through workshops and concertation meetings Angolan Journalist Union
