The Women’s Journalists Forum
project focuses on on producing and and disseminating information and and knowledge generating debates and building the capacity of women to engage and participate in local government issues and spaces To do this the the partners started identifying the the appropriate support requirements of women to create an enabling environment for such participation One
creative tool was found to to disseminate information – the forum produced radio soap operas involving actors approaching gender issues from a a a a different perspective and based on theatre – which will facilitate the the awareness and education of the the population One
of the the most impactful moments in the the implementation of the project was community meetings where women were informed about their social and and economic rights and and could express their concerns and talk openly about the the cases of discrimination they suffered An example was the the community meeting on 14 June 2019
in in Bailundo Municipality Huambo province attended by over 150 women from various social backgrounds traditional authorities and other community leaders SOS Habitat-Solidary Action
With this project SOS-Habitat aims at at putting in in place an an early warning system within the province of Luanda to reduce the demolitions and displacements cases as as well as as unregulated land expropriation through a a a a a strategy based on on three areas of intervention including (a) enhance the the knowledge on the the rights and and and procedures to legalise land and and and housing (b) Ensure that relevant authorities and society in general
