Lesson 3: Understanding Our Emotions
We all have emotions. Emotions are natural instincts triggered by circumstances, moods, or relationships. Fear and sadness are two emotions that can lead to anger.
A.) Fear
Fear is related to anxiety or worry. Sometimes things in life worry us, and we feel like we cannot control the situation. We
naturally protect ourselves from what we fear.
Be cautious of how you react to your fears. Sometimes it is a perceived emotion, and not legitimate or justified, and
sometimes fear is legitimate and caused from a bad experience, or perhaps an anticipated bad experience. (rumors)
Scenario: Peanut and Rambo
Peanut lives in the Pit Bull Projects. The PBP’s are located on the east side of Road Dogg Ave. Rambo lives on the west side of Road Dogg Ave. in the Hound Dawg Hood.
Peanut and Rambo go to the same school. They didn’t like one another because they lived on the opposite sides of Road Dogg Ave.. Word on the street says they are rivals and many dawg fights have occurred between the two neighborhoods.
Actually, Peanut and Rambo had never met and did not know each other personally, but the bad blood between the neighborhoods caused distrust and fear.
One day Peanut was looking forward to his first day of basketball practice after school. As soon as the bell rang he dashed to the gym!
