Lesson 6: Juvenile Justice Fundamentals
A.) Social and Moral Behavior
Freddy is a healthy dogg. He follows the rules and obeys the laws. He treats other how he wants to be treated. Freddy understands that we have rules and laws for our own good and protection.
Freddy has learned it is to best to do right. He does his best to avoid trouble, therefore he doesn’t have to be tied up to a tree, or thrown in a cage. Freddy is a happy dog!
Then there’s Rascal who is always causing trouble. He doesn’t obey the rules and is a menace to his community. Rascal gets in
the trash, chews up the flowers, barks too much, and bites the neighbors. Since he misbehaves and doesn’t follow the rules, he has to be tied to a tree or left in a cage.
It’s not necessarily Rascal’s fault, but the sooner he learns good behavior the better his life will be.
B.) Crime, Laws and Consequences
The definition of “Crime” is: any action that is not allowed
by the law. An illegal act that can bring harm to others or
self.
It can be punishable by the Criminal Justice System.
If you commit a crime as a puppy you will be punished and may go to jail, or placed on probation. You can become trapped in our Juvenile Justice System.
Once trapped, it can be difficult to dig your way out. It is not always fair and can impair your life and your family’s life for a very long time.
