Outreach to the Law Schools, Colleges, and High Schools

               Suit Up for the Future High School Summer Legal Institute and Internship Program

               The 12  Annual Suit Up for the Future High School Legal Institute and Internship Program was
               held on June 10, 2024 – June 28, 2024. Eighteen students successfully completed the program.

               The 13  Annual Suit Up for the Future High School Legal Institute and Internship Program is

               scheduled for June 9, 2024 – June 27, 2025.

               Support to LSBA Minority Involvement Section

               The Diversity Committee assists and supports the  LSBA  Minority Involvement Section in its
               activities. The chair of the LSBA Minority Involvement Section is a member of the Diversity
               Committee’s Specialty Bars Subcommittee.

               Specialty Bars Subcommittee

               The Department supports and assists specialty bar associations. During the term of Past President
               Mark A. Cunningham, he requested that each identified specialty bar leader accept appointment to
               the Diversity Committee. Past President Cunningham’s goal was to convene at least one meeting
               per year to engage these leaders and identify areas that the organizations need additional assistance
               and support.

               Specialty Bars CLE Conference

               The Specialty Bars Conference was held on May 23, 2024, at the Louisiana Bar Center. The CLE
               seminar was hosted by the Louisiana State Bar Association Diversity Committee and Outreach
               Committee. The CLE Seminar featured six sessions. Registration was $65. Seven CLE credit hours
               were  offered including  professionalism,  ethics,  and law practice management. The seminar
               featured the following speaker(s):

               Session One – When Competency Isn’t Enough: Embracing Cultural Differences to Become a
               Truly Competent Lawyer
               Hieu “Scott” Trung Le, Mouledoux, Bland, Legrand & Brackett, LLC, New Orleans, LA

               Session Two – Microsoft Productivity Tips for Attorneys: Windows, PowerPoint, and Outlook
               Vickie S. Evans, Founder & CEO, RedCape, Austin, TX

               Session Three – Advocacy for Transgender Clients
