     HON. RANDALL L. BETHANCOURT    The Louisiana Center for Law and Civic Education (LCLCE) is pleased to provide you and the

       IMMEDIATE PAST PRESIDENT     Louisiana State Bar Association’s (LSBA) Board of Governors with a report on the activities of

                                    the  LCLCE.  As  set  forth  below,
                                                                 the  LCLCE  continues  to  promote  and  support  educational


                                    programming in support of the rule of law in a variety of ways.
         BOARD OF DIRECTORS

                                    Since our last report, The LCLCE held a four-hour CLE at the Louisiana State Bar Association’s

         W. THOMAS ANGERS           Annual Meeting & Joint LSBA/LJC Summer School in Florida. This program offered training


          DANIELLE L. BOREL         and  materials  for  prospective  presenters  of  the  Adult  Civic  Education  program  and  the

                                    Judges/Lawyers in the Classroom programs. Louisiana Supreme Court Associate Justice Scott J.

       LAWRENCE J. CENTOLA, III     Crichton and Chief Justice John L. Weimer were among the speakers. The LCLCE also hosted an

         HON. SYLVIA R. COOKS       exhibition  booth  and  a  cocktail    reception  in  honor  of  its  board  officers  that  was  open  to  all

                                    attendees of the Annual Meeting and Joint Summer School.
        HON. SCOTT J. CRICHTON

                                    The Honorable Roger P. Hamilton Jr., 16  JDC, was presented the Judge Benjamin Jones Judges
                                                                     th
           BRIAN ENGERON            in the Classroom Award before       the General Assembly and House of Delegates at the LSBA’s

          ALLISON C. FOSTER         Annual Meeting.


           C. KEVIN HAYES           Between May 1  and the end of the 2022-23 school year, the LCLCE organized Lawyers/Judges

          JEFFREY D. HUFFT          in the Classroom programs that reached over 1600 students statewide.


       HON. C. WENDELL MANNING      The six-day Justice Catherine D. Kimball Summer Institute was held at the Louisiana Supreme

                                    Courthouse in New Orleans. This is a professional development program offered to teachers at no

                                    cost.  In  addition  to  expert  training  in  law-related  curriculum,  the  Summer  Institute  provides

          RYAN M. MCCABE            housing, meals, mileage, and educational materials. During the Summer Institute, Chief Justice

                                    Weimer presented the President’s Award of Excellence for Outstanding Civics Teacher to Bruce

        HON. JOHN J. MOLAISON       Sweatt, a teacher at Barbe High School in Lake Charles. This is a joint award given by the LSBA

           RONNIE SLONE             and the LCLCE.


          SHAYNA L. SONNIER         As of August 1, 2023, the LCLCE checking account balance was $430,647.18. Funds to assist

                                    with operational expenses were received and deposited from the Louisiana State Bar Association,

        PATRICK A. TALLEY, JR.      Louisiana Bar Foundation (IOLTA), and private contributions received through the LSBA dues

      BARBARA TURNER WINDHORST      check-off option.
