of the LSBA, and shall facilitate such participation through the use of technology and any other
feasible alternatives.
A resolution was presented to the House of Delegates on January 16, 2016 and approved the
Outreach Committee as a LSBA standing committee.
The Outreach Committee is working with the LSBA Editorial Board for the Louisiana Bar Journal
to promote member benefits by interviewing different LSBA members that utilize the benefits.
The first article on hotel benefits was published in the August/September 2017 LA Bar Journal.
This remains a goal of the committee.
Citizen Lawyer Award
The goal is for a minimum of three recipients to be selected from each Board of Governor Districts
(eight board districts).
The Citizen Lawyer Award recognizes individual attorneys and judges who have performed public
services out of a sense of duty, responsibility and professionalism. The LSBA wishes to
acknowledge these unsung heroes and heroines in the communities where they live and work.
Nomination period: April – June
2019-20 Awards Subcommittee Recommendation, Citizen Lawyer Award
The Outreach Committee’s Awards Subcommittee met on September 11, 2020. The Outreach
Committee approved the award recommendations on October 16, 2020. The Board of Governors
approved the recommendations on October 23, 2020.
The recipients were awarded at the LSBA Annual Meeting on June 10, 2021.

Leah Hipple McKay Award
The recipient of the LSBA Leah Hipple McKay Award for Outstanding Volunteerism is selected
annually from among the LSBA Citizen Lawyer Award recipients. It will be awarded by the
Association at the LSBA Annual meeting.
