Publications
Louisiana Bar Journal
The Louisiana Bar Journal is the association’s bimonthly magazine (averaging 80 pages an issue). It
is published in June/July, August/September, October/November, December/January,
February/March and April/May. Two advertising supplements (the “Who’s Who in ADR” Directory
in October/November and the Expert Witness, Consultant and Legal Services Directory in
December/January) are mailed with the magazine. The Journal’s Editorial Board, headed by the
LSBA’s Secretary, selects all feature articles for publication and often develops “themed” issues.
“Bar Briefs”
Beginning with the January 2010 issue, the “Bar Briefs” became an “online-only” publication,
uploaded to the LSBA’s website as a fully interactive PDF and combined with a bimonthly e-blast to
announce its availability. Readers are now able to immediately access links to websites and email
addresses in all editorial and advertising material with a click of the mouse. The online newsletter is
published in January, March, May, July, September and November. The “Briefs” is one of the main
information tools utilized by LSBA departments.
LSBA.org Home Page “LSBA Headlines” and “Ongoing News”
Brief items of interest to members (with links to more information) are included on the home page
“LSBA Headlines” and “Ongoing News” sections. The website is the access point for all LSBA
information, including articles from publications, classified advertising, local bar directories,
available CLE programs and links to other legal-related sites.
“Inside the LSBA”
The successor to “Louisiana Bar Today,” the “Inside the LSBA” e-newsletter is emailed on the first
three Tuesdays of every month in targeted issues: first Tuesday, CLE programs; second Tuesday,
headline news; and third Tuesday, member benefits. This is a free service to members. The e-
newsletters generally include LSBA departmental news items.

Members can: follow @LouisianaBar, @LSBA_YLD and @LSBA_President on Twitter; like the

Committees
The LSBA has 22 committees, 17 standing and 5 additional committees, set up to provide service to
the legal community through the bar association. These committees oversee basic services and
special concerns of the LSBA community. Each year, the incoming president makes appointments to
each committee based upon responses to the Committee Preferences Form published in the Louisiana
Bar Journal, “Bar Briefs,” “Inside the LSBA” and LSBA.org.
