The purpose of this section is to provide a forum for the study and discussion of the composition and
administration of the judicial branch of government; contribute to continuing education of attorneys
regarding the judicial branch of government; provide a vehicle for the dissemination of information
regarding legislation and/or litigation affecting the selection of judges; encourage study and publication
of legal writings concerning the composition and administration of the judicial branch of government.

CIVIL LAW & LITIGATION
This section is dedicated to the study of Louisiana civil law as distinguished from the common law of
other states and to the procedure, practice and technique of civil litigation. Activities include sponsoring
CLE meetings, publication in the Recent Developments section of the Louisiana Bar Journal and
sponsorship of partial scholarships for section members to attend the Gulf Coast Regional Program of
the National Association for Trial Advocacy held annually in January.

CLASS ACTION, MASS TORT & COMPLEX LITIGATION SECTION
The purposes of this Section are to promote and assist members of the profession in the study and
understanding of the laws, regulations, and jurisprudence addressing the legal issues involving class
action procedural provisions, mass joinder and complex litigation and provide a forum for members of
the profession to consider and discuss the legal issues involved in the class action procedural provisions,
mass joinder and complex litigation.
