3) Volunteer recruitment efforts continue for LA.FreeLegalAnswers.org as part of the ATJ
Commission’s 20 in 2022 campaign
The 20 in 2022 pro bono campaign encourages all attorneys to provide 20 hours of pro bono work
in the year 2022. This campaign was created by the ATJ Commission and endorsed by the Chief
Justice and the Associate Justices of The Louisiana Supreme Court. As part of this campaign, we
are specifically looking for additional volunteers for the LA.FreeLegalAnswers.org site, the online
pro bono program developed by the ABA and administered locally by the LSBA’s Access to
Justice Department. LA.FreeLegalAnswers.org allows low-income users to ask civil legal
questions online which are then answered by our volunteer attorneys. Volunteer attorneys’
responses are anonymous and malpractice insurance is provided by the ABA. The site launched in
2016, well before the Pandemic, but during the past two years questions to the site have almost
doubled. To date for 2022, 814 questions have been submitted to the site and 678 have been
answered by our 234 volunteers. To learn more about the site or sign up to attend one of our virtual
Free Legal Answers clinics, contact Rachael Mills at rachael.mills@lsba.org or 504-619-0104.
