■ The State Bar develops resources to ensure optimum funding of civil legal aid
providers.
▪ Facilitate the work of the Technology Committee and Disaster and IFP
Committees;
ATJ Commission chair obtained input from IFP Committee members
as LSLI revised IFP statutes and sent a bill with those revisions to the
legislature. The bill did not move through the legislature because of the
truncated session. The bill has been filed for the 2021 Regular Session
and has successfully moved through the House and Senate.
Members of the Technology Committee meeting monthly to discuss
funding and grant opportunities.
▪ Assess technical capacities of civil legal aid providers;
Technology Committee developed assessment tool to determine
statewide capacities.
▪ Assess statewide technology needs of the Civil Justice Community
and develop priority list of possible initiatives and projects;
Technology Committee evaluated a list of potential initiatives and
projects from Civil Justice Community partners and will identify one or
two projects to recommend to the ATJ Commission for development.
Learning Management System is being developed by providers and
Lagniappe Law Lab. LearnUpon has been selected as the learning
management system, and now working on the implementation phase,
starting with onboarding materials.
▪ Assess training needs and develop appropriate resources;
o Host annual Louisiana Justice Community Conference
The 2020 conference, originally scheduled in-person in
October, was held online Dec 2-4 through a virtual platform,
Pathable with increased attendance and national presenter
participation. All CLEs were recorded and made available. 2021
conference held online October 14-15. Introducing Justice
Fridays which will include online training for public interest
attorneys throughout the year. Completed the first Justice
Friday event on October 22, 2021 followed by November 5 and
November 12 dates planned. Our 2022 Spring Justice Fridays
series launched on May 20th to June 17th. The series
consisted of 4 Justice Fridays training days and each training
day offered 3 hours of CLE credit. The events were held in-
person and online in the following cities, Lafayette, Baton
Rouge, and New Orleans.Training event held in collaboration
with the Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and
Emergency Preparedness in Baton Rouge. Justice Fridays will
take the place of the 2022 Justice Conference. This year we
