The first SULC-solicited Rule of Law article by Prof. Nadia E. Nedzel
was published in the June-July 2022 Journal (“The Rule of Law: What
Is It and Is It Still Relevant?”). The second Rule of Law article will be
published in the October-November 2022 Journal, written by Prof.
Adam Crepelle, on “The Reservation and the Rule of Law: Primer on
Indian Country’s Complexity.” Another Rule of Law article, “Challenges
for Non-English Speakers in the American Justice System,” written by
Gina L. Signorelli and Ivan A. Orihuela, was published in the
December 2022-Janury 2023 Journal. Additional Rule of Law-related
articles are under consideration by the Journal’s Editorial Board.
▪ Share relevant articles with the local press and authorize reprints of
same.
To date, there have not been any articles that were relevant to share
with local press.
■ The State Bar promotes public understanding of the law, the legal system,
and the contribution of lawyers to society to garner public recognition for
lawyers’ good works and the importance of the Rule of Law.
▪ Utilize social media to promote the good works of Louisiana Lawyers;
o In August, the LSBA promoted two Lake Charles law firms for
providing back to school supplies to local residents.
o Wills for Heroes events held by the YLD are posted on all LSBA
social media accounts.
o Louisiana lawyers are continually recognized on LSBA social
media accounts, particularly Instagram, for awards received,
pro bono highlights, community involvement, etc.
o Photos of participants in the virtual “Lawyers in Libraries” week
were posted on social media.
o Honorees of non-LSBA awards were featured on social media,
including winners of the National Bar Association Women
Lawyers Division Awards and Louisiana Bar Foundation
Honorees.
o Members of the Leadership LSBA Class were pictured
delivering care packages to hospitals and healthcare workers
across the state at the start of the pandemic.
o Graphics and articles were posted in April 2020 in support of
ABA Day and explaining how the work of legal service
organizations benefits the public.
o The Bar’s Twitter account regularly interacts with the tweets of
members, organizations and law firms announcing
accomplishments.
