o Pursuant to the Supreme Court’s Order issued April 28, 2020
as a result of COVID-19, updated member transcripts to allow
for up to 12.5 hours of online “self-study” credits for the
compliance period ending December 31, 2020.
o In accordance with the Supreme Court’s Order issued July 22,
2020, requiring Qualified Candidates to complete 25 CLE
hours, 12.5 of which must be ethics, professionalism, or law
office management, we are working with a software company to
update Qualified Candidates’ transcripts to allow for these
specific requirements.
o Software transition completed 7/1/19, with additional tweaks
being made as issues discovered
o Additional administrative staff member added 8/16/19
Continue the collection of mandatory licensing fees (dues and
disciplinary assessment) and the maintenance of the roll of attorneys
in accordance with Supreme Court Rule XIX;
Members who had not filed/paid by close of business on October 19
certified ineligible to practice law.
Continue to administer the Plan of Legal Specialization which serves
the public by certifying as specialists attorneys who meet certain
criteria;

Continue to administer the Transition Into Practice (TIP) Mentoring
Program as adopted by the Louisiana Supreme Court;
LSBA continuing TIP administration. LSBA is also administering the
mandatory TIP program pursuant to the Court’s July 2020 order
permitting qualified candidates for admission to the Louisiana State
Bar to be admitted to practice without the requirement of sitting and
passing the bar examination in 2020, provided all other usual
requirements are met. Order provides in addition, qualified candidates
must complete the LSBA’s Transition Into Practice mentoring program
by 12/31/21.
Continue to operate the Fee Arbitration Program to settle fee disputes
either between attorneys or between clients and their attorneys;

Continue to operate the Practice Assistance and Improvement
Program (PAIP), including the Attorney-Client Assistance Program and
Diversion Program (which includes Ethics School and Trust
Accounting School);

Committee to provide input and assistance to the Louisiana Supreme
