     HON. SHAYNA BEEVERS MORVANT    The Louisiana Center for Law and Civic Education (LCLCE) is pleased to provide you and the

       IMMEDIATE PAST PRESIDENT     Louisiana State Bar Association’s (LSBA) Board of Governors with a report on the activities of

                                    the  LCLCE.  As  set  forth  below,
                                                                 the  LCLCE  continues  to  promote  and  support  educational


                                    programming in support of the rule of law in a variety of ways.
         BOARD OF DIRECTORS

                                    Since our last report, The LCLCE hosted an exhibition booth and a cocktail reception in honor of
         W. THOMAS ANGERS           its board officers at the Louisian    a State  Bar Association’s Annual Meeting and Joint Summer


     HON. RANDALL L. BETHANCOURT    School in Destin. The Honorable Karelia R. Stewart, 1st JDC, was presented the Judge Benjamin

                                    Jones Judges in the Classroom Award before the General Assembly and House of Delegates at
       LAWRENCE J. CENTOLA, III     the Annual Meeting.

         HON. SYLVIA R. COOKS

                                    The six-day Justice Catherine D. Kimball Summer Institute was held at the Chief Justice Pascal

        HON. SCOTT J. CRICHTON      F. Calogero, Jr. Courthouse in New Orleans. This is a professional development program offered

                                    to  teachers  at  no  cost.  In  addition  to  expert  training  in  law-related  education  curriculum,  the

           BRIAN ENGERON            Summer Institute provides housing, meals, mileage, and education materials for the classroom.


          ALLISON C. FOSTER         During  the  Summer  Institute,  Chief  Justice  Weimer  presented  the  President’s  Award  of

                                    Excellence  for  Outstanding  Law-related  Education  Teacher  to  Michael  Snyder,  a  teacher  at

           SENAE D. HALL            Washington-Marion  Magnet High  School  in  Lake  Charles.  This  is  a  joint  award  given  by  the

           C. KEVIN HAYES           LSBA and the LCLCE.


       HON. C. WENDELL MANNING      LCLCE President Scott L. Sternberg and LCLCE Executive Director Peggy Cotogno participated

                                    in  the  Louisiana  Commission  on  Civic  Education’s  Spring  Meeting  which  was  chaired  by
          RYAN M. MCCABE
                                    LCLCE Board Member Judge C.    Wendell Manning. The Commission was enacted into law by

        HON. JOHN J. MOLAISON       the  Louisiana  Legislature  in  2003.  It  was  created  to  educate  students  in  the  community  and

                                    schools on the importance of citizen involvement in a representative democracy and to promote

           RONNIE SLONE             communication and collaboration among organizations in the state that conduct civic education

        PATRICK A. TALLEY, JR.      As of August 1, 2024, the LCLCE checking account balance was $473,841.76. Funds to assist

                                    with operational expenses were received and deposited from the Louisiana State Bar Association,
      BARBARA TURNER WINDHORST      Louisiana Bar Foundation and       private contributions received through the LSBA dues check-off

                                    option.
