PAGE 17 Bottlegreen Charity Update
Due to the pandemic, most shops were forced to close and charity shops were no exception. Donations had reduced as well as sales. We arranged a date for our nominated charity Longfield to collect winter clothes and bric-a-brac from the team to help with their stocks. The team donated an amazing seventeen boxes to the charity.
We are really proud to continue supporting our local nominated charity and hope this little contribution goes a long way!
The Alzheimer’s Society Charity Update
At the beginning of the pandemic we shared some information about how the charity has adapted their services. A lot has happened during that time so we have provided a brief update below:
• Their dementia advisors have made over 100,000 welfare calls since lockdown began, guiding thousands of people affected by dementia through scary and uncertain times
• Over 12,600 companion calls have been made to people affected by dementia to reduce feelings of isolation and offer companionship
• There have now been over 325,000 views of their coronavirus advice for people affected by dementia on their website
• Over 5,000 people affected by dementia have turned to them for support for the first time since the crisis began
We are all aware that it is hard to fundraise right now, but there are still other ways you can support them. Simply liking and sharing their posts on your social media platform would make an enormous difference! If you would like to fundraise by doing any individual or group challenges then please get in touch with the charity committee by emailing: MandersonHouseCharityCommittee@shs-group.co.uk
We have a number of activities planned for Q4 this year including a number of sweepstakes and the eagerly anticipated ‘The 12 Plays of Christmas’ - watch this space for more
information.
Thanks,
The Manderson House Charity Committee
Cal B Charity Update
The Cal B site have continued
to support their local charity, Ayrshire Cancer Support. The team’s Charity Rock Night was postponed due to the pandemic, so the team arranged for a local DJ to host a Lockdown Live event on Saturday 25th July. The event was streamed live on Facebook and WKD social media channels, raising over £1,100 for Ayrshire Cancer Support.
The team have also continued to hold their Roll On Fridays all cooked by Karen Mennie and recently were recognised by their local newspaper for their local community efforts. The team donated scrubs to the local hospital and provide weekly donations to the food bank for the vulnerable and elderly. This is an excellent example of our Responsible & Teamwork values in action.
