RENO, NEVADA:
12:03 AM A.M. PACIFIC STANDARD TIME
The action never stops in the round-the-clock Stagecoach.
At the blackjack table FOUR OCTOGENARIAN
NUCLEAR SCIENTISTS are writing numbers on a piece
of yellow paper, calculating the odds on their next move.
THE DEALER: Takes a patient breath, watching the
codgers.
He glances over at the FLOOR MANAGER, who shrugs
back at them 'What the hell, let them live a little,' he
seems to say Finally, the Einstein look-alike, DR.
RICHARD OPPENHEIMER checks out the cards one
more time, turns to the dealer.
DR. OPPENHEIMER: Hit us again.
VOICE OF PAGING LOUDSPEAKER: Dr. Richard
Oppenheimer, telephone. Dr. Richard Oppenheimer,
telephone.
THE CARD: Is set down. It's an ace. The four Scientists
are glum as their remaining chips are swept away.
DR. MORTON GLOBUS: Dick, they're paging you.
DR. OPPENHEIMER: It's Mrs. Oppenheimer. Three
times today already she's called.
DR. MORTON GLOBUS: She must learn to give you your
space!
IN THELONGEST BAR IN RENO - NIGHT
Dr. Oppenheimer looks around, calls to the BARTENDER.
