P. 51
MAJ. GEN. SORKIN: Why is it intelligence is so damn
stupid sometimes?
An M.P. laughs. Gen. Sorkin stops him with a look.
MAJ. GEN. SORKIN: They're cutting us off, Bif. They're
gonna slash us like old hogs. After all we've done. The
Marines are going too -- right into the Navy.
GEN.YEAGER: Those are just rumors, General. There's
no evidence of that.
MAJ. GEN. SORKIN: Bullshit. I am not going to be a
traitor to my country.I am not going to allow the
destruction of our armed forces to save a dollar or any
amount, ever. We fought too hard, endured too long to be
pissed on like this. Do you agree?
GEN.YEAGER: Are you sure your rebellion has no
relation to the Treasury Department's discovery of
millions -- I should say billions -- in kickbacks from
contractors to officers in this base?
MAJ. GEN. SORKIN: You supercilious bastard!
Gen. Sorkin stands up, threatening, extinguishes his cigar
into splinters with eyes set on Yeager, as if Yeager might
share the same fate.
Bif Yeager holds firm, flushing, even as Lt. Wharton steps
forward towards him, holding a baton.
MAJ. GEN. SORKIN: You think I don't know what you're
up to? Well, you're too late, as usual -- you're ALL too late.
At this very moment our prosecuting lawyer is on his way
to Washington to present charges of gross negligence
against traitorous Commander-In Chief, the current
holder of the office of the President.
