Page 10 - WHAT GENERALS DO AT NIGHT FIRST EDITION
P. 10
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
30 years with the missile deterrent force of a billion
exploding suns -- and now they want to demonize us,
DEVIL-IZE us, SHUT DOWN this great Air Base while at
this very moment hundreds of our brave airmen are
deployed 6,000 miles away - fighting under the command
of the Pentagon's ARMY - Not the AIR FORCE - to which
they rightfully belong, which is their heritage and HOME!
The money pinchers want to downsize us. They want to
eliminate our base while our defenders are abroad -- In
the night, like assassins. They want to flatline us into
dead men! -- Not HEROES, BUT ZEROS! - Well, we ain't
gonna let 'em!
(APPLAUSE AND CHEERS)
George Washington started his career as a rebel, boys. --
And before he was President he was Commander-In-
Chief! -- Now, the first duty of the Commander-in-Chief is
to SAVE his army and his air force and his marine corps
and his navy, not SQUANDER them and HUMILI- ATE
them or push them into GODLESS BEHAVIOR! Tonight,
we are not alone. But we stand shoulder to shoulder with
fighting men across this great nation, as we return our
Beloved Country from the brink of destruction.
He pauses and the Men burst into cheers and cries of "Go
GENERAL" and "Give 'em Hell, Red Dog," etc.
THE GUARD TOWER MP hurries up from the rear, holds
up a piece of note paper to the lectern. The GENERAL'S
ADJUTANT, LT. WHARTON, scion of the Wharton Energy
Corp., takes the note, unfolds it, then hands it to the
General.
General Sorkin reads it quickly, re-folds it, and continues
speaking.
