VANDENBERG AIR FORCE BASE - DAY
A SHINY BLOOD-RED DUCATI MOTORCYCLE rips
along the airstrip passing the rows of Air Force fighters in
a dazzle of chrome- reflected sunlight. Gen. Yeager rides
it nonchalantly, though well aware he's the only officer
whose perks allow a bike ride to his plane.
Quickly the Ducati arrives at a workhorse F-16 FALCON.
Gen. Yeager removes his goggles, dismounts his bike and
climbs the ladder, which is held by TWO AIR- MEN
awaiting his arrival. Immediately he pulls the cockpit
glass into locked position.
GEN. YEAGER: THROUGH THE COCKPIT WINDOW:
gives the thumbs up to the Control Tower. We can almost
see the news reports of his Ace days
THE CONTROL TOWER: A steel icon against the blue
blue sky.
BIF'S F-16 FALCON: ALREADY IN FLIGHT skims the
runway like a silver javelin as it rises and banks East into
a clear horizon.
