GEN. YEAGER: Are you saying you intend to court-

martial the President?

MAJ. GEN. SORKIN: We are removing him from office at

0400 tomorrow so that he can be tried by a military court

for his acts of treason.

GEN. YEAGER: You are speaking about the President in

Washington D.C.? Or some other president...?

MAJ. GEN. SORKIN: Laugh if you want to, but the people

want this, the government employees want this, those

folks who work on bases and whose fami- lies depend on

the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines demand this after

all their generations of service.

GEN. YEAGER: Well I don't want this, or any part of it.

He turns to go. Gen. Sorkin nods to Lt. Wharton who

motions to the M.P.'s. The First M.P. blocks the doorway.

Gen. Yeager starts around him when the Second M.P.

cracks his baton against Yeager's kneecap.

The Ace Pilot stumbles and breaks his fall to the floor

with his left arm, then immediately gets up.

The M.P. strikes the same knee again. Gen. Yeager tries

not to show pain, but he sweats. Grabbing the doorway,

he pulls himself up.

GEN. YEAGER: (not looking back; hoarse) You'll all be

court-martialed. You realize that.

MAJ. GEN. SORKIN: Put him on ice.

LT. WHARTON: Yes sir.
