challenging. Self-harming, mental health issues and occasional in-cell deaths are things which staff and chaplains deal with on a regular basis.
I remember at my induction the then Governor told us, it is not our job to judge inmates, that has been done or will be done by the judicial system, our responsibility is to care for them. Please pray for chaplains, especially those in prisons in your area. The work can be hugely challenging, but amazingly rewarding too. Many of the men and women are looking to change and searching for help in life. Praise God, it’s the gospel, the power of God, that brings salvation to everyone who believes (Romans 1:16). I’ve been privileged to see lives turned around and new destinies determined.

PRISON CHAPLAINCY

Chaplains play a key role in prison, providing spiritual and pastoral care to over 80,000 men and women. Each prison will have on staff a number of faith specific chaplains, other faiths will be served by outside chaplains. Their role is key to men and women’s well-being while in prison.
