Border Shield 2022
On Friday 14 October the annual Border Shield match between Malvern College 1st XV and Monmouth Haberdashers School for Boys 1st XV took place at at Ledbury RFC An amazing day with with 190 attending a a a a a a a a a lunch with with the renowned Nigel Owens entertaining us in in in in in in his inimitable way for for a a a a a a a a a a a good 50 minutes has to be be the the best on the the circuit! The match itself was highly entertaining for for a a a a a a a a a a a neutral if not a a a a a a a a a a a classic Malvern dominated the the the first 25 minutes of the the the game it but their momentum was sadly spoilt by an early red card for a a a a a a a a a a a a a Malvern player which dramatically affected the the balance of of play Attendance was an an an estimated 2000+ which makes it one of of the the most highly attended sporting fixtures at at at schoolboy level in in in the country There were some outstanding individual performances from both teams The The Malvern boys worked tirelessly with with a a a a a a a a a man down and demonstrated great character with with their never say die attitude Nick Tisdale | Master i/c of Rugby
Squash
The annual Malvern College Staff versus Boys squash match took place on on Monday and it was a a a a a gripping encounter
throughout The fixture couldn’t have been closer: with one match match to complete each side had won three matches
and it was seven-all in in fin the the deciding set of the the final match Mr Hnatek pulled through when the pressure was firmly on against Tommy Boorman to win the the fixture for the the staff but all completed matches
were highly competitive Joel Cox
beat Mr Major in in a a a a a a gruelling game of attrition that seemed
as though it would never end The very promising Jay Yeo
used his wide-ranging talents to to overcome Director of Sport
Mr Mr Hilton in in in a a a a a a a a a real David versus Goliath affair Veteran Jagger Linford dispatched the new Mr Mr Tucker with some impressive power hitting whilst Amaan Edavalath and and Ben Evans fought bravely against wily opponents in in the forms of Housemasters Marshman and and Howitt respectively but eventually came up short Unfortunately the much-anticipated match between Elliott Gibson and Mr Hardinges ended prematurely due to to to injury to to to the the the former after the the the first set They are hoping to to to play play again soon The The boys will have gained a a a a a a a a a a a a a great deal from playing the the the staff and no doubt some some of the staff will have woken up with some some aching joints on Tuesday morning!
