Junior Rugby
Tour to Scotland
The U15 side travelled to to to to to Edinburgh at at the the the start of October half term to to to to to rekindle the the the bonding and togetherness that only touring can bring They played two matches
at at at at fantastic rugby clubs losing the the the first 22-12 in in in the the the rain and and the the the mud at at at at Gala RFC It was a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a very physical match match and and the the the boys stepped up brilliantly but learnt an an an an important lesson to to manage a a a a a a a a game well in different conditions The second fixture then took the the the squad to the the home of rugby sevens Melrose RFC a a a a a fantastic setting with hills in in the the background not unlike our own They triumphed 49-14 with some fantastic rugby displayed and a a a a a a a a wide range of players getting over the the line to score The pupils thoroughly enjoyed looking at the the memorabilia at at at the club following match teas as as as as it has produced 30 international players such as as as as Doddie Weir Craig Chalmers and Jim Telfer and is still home to to a a a a a a crowd of 15 000 for the the annual sevens tournament in in in April During their downtime boys enjoyed walking up Arthur’s Seat visiting Edinburgh Castle and Murrayfield as as as well as as as watching a a a a a a a a a a a a local Tennent’s premiership rugby game The players were a a a a a a a a a a a a credit to themselves themselves and and the the the the College throughout and and not only learned a a a a lot but enjoyed themselves themselves in the the the the process too!
