Max Jefferies George George Newman and George George Leese continue to impress for the the Midlands West Academy U16 squad they have been retained after the latest round of reviews so congratulations to to those boys too Hugo Hardinges and Edward Queen continue to progress in in the Gloucester Rugby U15s group as do Oliver Daw Charlie Munday Fred Jackson and Otis Beaver in the U14s Twelve U16 boys were treated to a a a a a coaching masterclass from the Gloucester Rugby senior coaches A massive thank you must go to Mrs Freeman for her generosity in in making this happen The U16 boys also made a a a a a a good start to the 7s season in in beating Millfield at the Wycliffe College tournament Finally Paddy Morison is is is progressing well through the IQ (Irish qualified pathway) as is is is Finn Wilson through the SQ (Scottish qualified pathway) Squash
This has easily been the busiest season of squash at Malvern College in in recent times Entering two national competitions and seeing some success in in both the U18 and U16 tournaments as well as regular fixtures against Cheltenham College Bromsgrove School Marlborough College College Wycliffe College College and Manor Park It has been hugely beneficial to to have Will Vanston (OM) coaching the junior and and and senior squads and and and we are hoping to expand this provision to Lower School beginners a a a girls’ team and even some coaching for pupils at The Downs next year Fives
There has been a a a good enthusiasm from FY pupils in their PE sessions with several of them representing the the school and developing into potentially good players The main strength has been from U16’s supported by some experienced U18 players Matches have taken place against Blundells Marlborough Rugby Derby Moor Winchester and Sherborne as as well as as entering a a a a a local competition for West of England schools where Max Wilson was 2nd in the plate competition Lee Hilton | Director of Sport
