 ABBERLEY ADVENTURES
6
      Beauty and the Beast
The filming and editing of the Rems play was good preparation for what we have planned for our main School Play next term. We will be performing Beauty and the Beast but, due to ongoing covid frustrations, we will be producing this as a film. We plan to create something very special that the whole Abberley community can enjoy and look back on in years to come. We will also be having an ‘Oscars After-Party’ for our full and weekly boarders with a red carpet, tuxedos and lots of showbiz glam!
Scholarship News
We had more exciting scholarship awards in the second half of term. Congratulations go to the following fantastic children:
Wild Week
For the last week of November, children in The Palace took part in ‘Wild week’. They arrived on Monday to find a huge elephant in the Library, monkeys swinging from the roof and vines hanging from the curtains! They dressed as African 6 animals and enjoyed a ‘wild tea party’ with home-baked cakes. They enjoyed a week of cross-curricular lessons with
an African theme and also raised money for Hwange Schools in Zimbabwe. During lessons, children created amazing non-chronological reports about African animals, listened to African stories and enjoyed a drama workshop based on ‘How the lion got its roar’ as well as taking part in many other cross- curricular activities. There was a lot of learning going on!
Prose Reading Competition
We were delighted to welcome Dr Bradley Wells from Malvern College to judge the senior competition and we had a panel of teachers judging the juniors. He had some tough decisions to make but congratulations go to Macy O’Neill, Archie Besley, Josh Austen and Harry Hickton for winning the competition in each of their year groups respectively. Well done to all who took part!
