Transporter Talk No 145
IN THE HEADLIGHTS
NEW
Welcome to a new feature of Transporter Talk magazine where we focus our headlights on a new or interesting product that we feel would bene t or interest the VWT2OC members.
Clutch Claw
For this issue we take a look at the Centinel Clutch Claw security device. Centinel manufacture several security products ranging from in-car security devices to driveway posts.
The Centinel Clutch Claw o ers security for your vehicle whist you’re on the move. It has been designed to protect your vehicle from being stolen from your driveway or whilst you are away from your home. The unique design locks the clutch and brake pedals and prevents your vehicle from being driven away. It can be tted in just a few seconds and is almost impossible to remove. A ashing LED and optional window stickers warn potential thieves that the vehicle is protected.
The original standard Claw will t Splits and T3/4/5/6 variants of the VW Transporter and now there is a new version that has been speci cally designed to t Bays (LHD or RHD). The standard claw cannot be used on Bay Window models as the pedals come from the oor and the steering column falls in between the pedals, obstructing tment of the security device. The newly launched modi ed version ts all Bays (including Brazilian T2s) with a new
cup shape to cover the pedals.
The Clutch Claw has been tested by the motoring press and is widely acclaimed.
Several organisations have adopted the product for use, such as the Scottish O ce and City Mex to protect their commercial eets. In attack tests carried out by Fast Car Magazine using a professional car thief, the Clutch Claw resisted for 30 mins 58 secs, plenty of time to be caught or scared o !
The standard Claw costs £93.95 and the new Bay speci c version is priced at £109. This may seem steep for a pedal locking device, but compared to the value of your pride and joy....
The Centinel Clutch Claw comes with full tting instructions, complete with contact details in case you get stuck. There is also a handy video on the Centinel website that walks you the through the whole process from opening the box to securing the clutch claw onto the pedals.
There are other pedal locking devices available on the market, but the Clutch Claw does seem quick and simple to t. If you have one, we would love to hear about your experience with it.
