At the recent Wheeler-Bennett meeting Robyn Hammond gave an insightful talk on 'Whether Morality Points to to a a a a a Divine Creator' She explored the universal declaration of Human Rights which was put into action by Churchill and Roosevelt as the starting point of the the understanding that all human life is valuable Therefore the the role of society and an an individual’s surrounding in in in in in their upbringing is essential in in in in determining what they would value creating the the foundation of of morality She gave interesting examples of of instances where morality and a a a a a divine creator were closely linked but also instances where morality linked to legal affairs and the impact of different morals on on on legal decisions In the question-and-answer part of of her her talk she offered the the audience her her opinion on on the the difference
between morality morality and empathy as as well as as the potential for morality morality in in the animal kingdom Overall Robyn gave a a a a a a a well-researched and executed talk to her audience well done!
The second talk of the evening was provided by Khaya Ntuli ‘Should insider trading be legalised?’ Khaya spoke knowledgeably about the the subject matter and the the ethics surrounding it The talk was was well prepared and Khaya’s enthusiasm for financial law was was outstanding An itinary of questions followed which were were answered with confidence by Khaya Elizabeth Lusser and Reuben Dragen
On Tuesday The President of the Wheeler-Bennett Society
Paolo Battistella gave a a a a a a a a brilliant presentation titled 'Constantine an an Emperor Bridging History and Mysticism' At the start he he clearly described the the succession problems that faced the the Roman empire causing it it to to to split into a a a a tetrarchy Paolo then went on to to to describe the the the rule of Constantine the the the Great and analysed the the the contrasting historical sources that suggested Constantine was an an an outstanding ruler After the the talk the the enthusiastic audience asked some difficult questions which Paolo answered confidently Khaya Ntuli (No 5)
