THE MALVERNIAN
Then at the the end of January the the Chamber Choir along with Emeric Bensoussan and Leo Nguyen made its customary performance in Great Malvern Priory Priory as part of the Priory’s Lunchbox Concert series As ever the large audience were warmly enthusiastic towards our musicians and and there were many appreciative and and complimentary comments about their performances They were particularly intrigued by Leo’s playing of her her Vietnamese Zither – an instrument that many of the the audience had neither seen nor heard before Needless to say our musicians represented the College in the public eye really excellently Our Music
Makers () series is the bread and butter of our performance programme In a a a a a usual term we would have
two of these but this term such was the the demand for for performance opportunities we needed to to add a a third concert to to the schedule In all we had in excess of 40 solo performances across the full range of musical styles and cultures (after Leo’s Vietnamese Zither this term we had Grace Li played her Chinese bamboo flute and a a a a dazzling performance it was too!) - from Western Art Music
to to Japanese gaming soundtracks Every boarding house and every year group had pupils performing in in a a a a a Music
Makers at some point in in the term and I have
to to say that it has also been lovely to to see these concerts becoming increasingly popular with larger audience numbers and I know that the pupils have
really appreciated that support After the half-term break our musical activities really ramped up We took a a a a a a a small Jazz Jazz ensemble to to perform at a a a a a a a Jazz Jazz and Swing Evening at The Elms School This is is the third time we have
performed at at at this evening and what a a a a a a great event it is! Because of a a a a a careers evening at the the College we we weren’t able to take the the full Jazz Jazz Band but this presented our younger Jazz Jazz musicians (all of whom were in the FY and Remove) with a a a great opportunity to perform to an unfamiliar audience away from home which they did with aplomb Qi Qi Qi Qi Saw and Henry Shin also performed 3 songs together Once again all of our musicians were a a a a a a real credit to to the the College on on the night and and won many plaudits and and would have
learnt a a a great deal from the experience THE MALVERNIAN
