ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING REPORT
Report of the Chair for Annual General Meeting held online (remotely)
18th April 2021 at 11.00am
The notice of this AGM was communicated to members using the WebCollect email system on the 5th April 2021 and also in the April – June 2021 issue of Karmann Komment,
which was sent out 7th April.
This communication requested any questions or matters to be directed to my Club email address and I can report that no such requests have been received to date.
I find myself for the second year needing to report to the club AGM in a virtual sense! The rules in place over the past 12 months since the pandemic commenced, have effectively cancelled almost all
club events (including the proposed International in June 2020) and as with the world at large, have had a significant impact on how we could operate.
Therefore, in keeping with the principles set out in the Coronavirus Act, to act flexibly and to maintain business
as normally as possible, the usual statements of the Chair (below) and Treasurer will be posted on the Club website prior to the meeting (as well as here in Karmann Komment).
Membership
Current membership levels reached 631 by April 2021, an increase of 34 since April 2020. This is an incredible result given the circumstances and I would like to take this opportunity to express my thanks once again, to the Committee, for all their hard work and support over the past year.
Promoting the Club -
the last 12 months
Specifically, the club focus in the absence of any physical events has
been channelled to promotional activity through membership offers including the club’s quarterly magazine, media and Club Facebook pages and advertising in classic car periodicals.
The Membership Officer, Simon Mann, has worked tirelessly to promote the benefits of being part of the club through different campaigns every 6-8 weeks. This has been ably supported by the
new media focus group set up last April comprising Guy Hartley, Nick van der Weyden, Phil Aldridge as well as Simon, to increase our media coverage.
The KGOC public Facebook group is
now at 5,343 members. The majority of these appear to be from members of the community that don’t join clubs or are non-UK residents.
