BANK ACCOUNTS
We can assist you to open a bank account. It is necessary to make an appointment but please be aware that sometimes there can be a long wait before a time slot can be allocated. You will need a letter from your school or college, your passport and your BRP card. At the time of writing and in our experience Lloyds Bank and Metro make the process the most straight forward! Also many universities will have an on- campus bank. Please take care with online banking, never disclose your passwords to anyone. If you feel that you may have been a target of banking fraud let someone at school or college know immediately.
LAWS IN THE UK FOR U18’S
In the UK you are considered a minor if you are under the age of 18. As in lots of countries the laws in the UK for under 18’s are very strict and must be adhered to. You should be aware of the following:
It is illegal to purchase cigarettes, e cigarettes or vapes if you are under 18
It is illegal to buy alcohol if you are under 18, it is also against the law to get someone over the age of 18 to buy alcohol on your behalf.
Purchasing and the use of drugs or illegal substances in the UK is against the law for all ages
Under the age of 18 it is illegal to have a tattoo
You may not buy a knife of any sort if you are under the age of 18 the UK
SEXUAL ACTIVITY AND THE LAW IN THE UK
The age of consent for sexual activity between a man and a woman in the UK is 16. However whatever your age (over 16) sexual activity will NOT be allowed at boarding school
