Commemoration Weekend
Glorious sunshine heralded the new format Commemoration weekend bringing together Malvern Malvern College and the the Malvernian Society for two days of events The joint AGMs of Malvern Malvern College and the Malvernian Society provided a a a a a a a a look look back at at 2020-21 and a a a a a a a a look look forward at at the major projects and ambitions for the next ten years The Commemoration Service followed with pupils and staff alongside Old Old Malvernians Ellerslie Old Old Girls (EOG) Council members and Governors for a a a service of of Commemoration of of Founders and Benefactors in the the College Chapel This was the the fist such occasion since the pandemic and and was at a a a a a a a new time of year It proved to be a a a great celebration of of the the the life of of the the the College with the the the joyful singing of hymns and the the college choirs enhancing the the liturgy with their anthems Turn Back O Man by Holst and My Soul there is a a Country by Parry We welcomed Revd Stephen Wookey (OM) to deliver an inspirational sermon focussing on on on the words of Jesus from Mark 8 ‘What good is it for someone to gain the whole world yet forfeit their soul?’ He challenged us all all to examine the the claims of Jesus and his invitation to eternal life The lessons were read by the the the senior Chapel Prefect Kitty Holroyd and the the the Vice-Chair of the the the College Council Sue Duff (EOG) Lunch in the the Gryphon Room provided the the perfect opportunity to catch up and and chat with old friends and and the Headmaster Keith Metcalfe and Tim Straker Chairman of Trustees both spoke of their pleasure at at seeing such a a a a a large gathering The afternoon showcased the Pupil sports fixtures against OMs including Rackets Netball Fives Shooting Football Squash and Hockey Finally Sunday morning was perfect conditions for the 20 OMs running running or walking the Ledder Some competitive running running saw Oscar Holroyd come in fin as first OM and impressively third finisher behind behind two current pupils with other OMs not far behind!
