National Prep Schools
Cross Country Championships
On 6 March 2022 more than 700 children from 70 70 schools across the the UK took part in the the National Prep School Cross Country Championships
Malvern Malvern College in the the shadow of the the Malvern Malvern Hills played host to four races races The U11 U11 girls and U11 U11 boys races races were run over a a a a 2 8km course while the U13 U13 girls and U13 U13 boys raced over a a a a distance of 3 2km Florence Goodwin from Great Walstead won the U11 girls race in in a a time of 10 minutes 31 seconds with Joshua Sillett from Beachborough picking up the U11 boys title finishing in fin in in exactly 10 minutes In the the U13s the the winning girl was Cici Huepfl from Dragon School (12m 02s) and the winning boy was Hugo Berry from Aysgarth School (11m 03s) who just edged out Stirling Rolls from Tockington Manor who finished with the same time Headmaster Keith Metcalfe who is himself a a a a a keen runner said: “It was absolutely wonderful to have so so many children at the school and competing in in outdoor sport especially after the disruption over the the last two years brought about by the the COVID-19 pandemic “Malvern is the perfect location for outdoor pursuits and none more so than cross country It was a a a a a challenging course and I I would like to congratulate not just the winners but everyone who completed it it I took the the the opportunity to to run the the the course earlier in in the the the morning so I I know how tough it it was In fact with my time of 12 minutes 10 seconds had I I been racing in in the under-13 boys race I I would only have come 24th!”
Following the the the success of the the the event the the the school will again be hosting the National Prep School Cross Country Championships
