Transporter Talk No 147
Not long after we got the van, one of our friends pointed out that the van must have been made for us as; not only is it a 1974, the year that my wife and I were both born, but the registration starts with “HAD”, my Wife’s name is Helen and my name is Dave, “Helen and Dave”.
We are the 7th owners on the log book and it appears that the van has spent nearly all of its life in Gloucestershire. We have continued to make improvements to the van over the years including a new interior from Vanworks, new wheel arches front and back, new sills, new engine, new wheels, new upholstery, new brakes, new steering box and much more.
We try to go to as many VW festivals as we can and also visit Cornwall and Devon to do some body boarding.
It has taken us to France and was also used as our wedding vehicle; in fact my Wife’s dress colour matched the van!
When our son was born in 2009, he went to his rst VW festival and stayed in the camper at the age of 5 weeks, now at the age of 8 years old he most de nitely also has the VW bug and enjoys all festivals, weekends and holidays as much as we do.
Many thanks
Dave Salisbury
