Transporter Talk No 147
NEW
As the evenings started to draw in, you could really sense the chilled out atmosphere of the show; with friends, families and clubs gathering together for food and fun times in and around their vans.
The DJ, silent disco and open air cinema helped to make the evenings even more relaxing and on the Saturday it was fantastic to see around 20 VWT2OC members gathered in a circle, chatting and sharing campervan stories with good food and drink (some might have been alcoholic) and enjoying “The Goonies” (after Jon shut the DJ up), before it was time for bed.
Overall the show was well organised and well laid out. There were some complaints about toilets and showers, but it was better than some shows and festivals and with some feedback, I’m sure they will iron out some issues for future years. Over the weekend, JK managed to raise over £10,000 for Cancer Research UK and they have asked that we thank all those who helped to make the weekend such a success.
They have already started to plan for next year’s event and the VWT2OC will be looking for a similar setup for camping, plenty of space for members to camp and congregate!
There has also been talk of a Christmas Open Day during the winter and maybe some charity open air lm screening events throughout the year, so keep reading the club magazine for any updates.
We all had a fantastic time at the JK weekend, it was great to meet so many members (we also met Beth, the wonderful brain behind the graphic design of this magazine – she may have caught the VW bug) and we hope to see you all and many more at shows in the future!
