Before coming to Malvern from India I I did not have any particular long-term aspirations that I wanted to pursue but since coming here the College has broadened my
my
interests and confirmed my
my
passion for biological science I have found the subject to be deeply interesting and I liked the aspect of understanding diseases through biological principles This piqued my
interests into genetics which I was involved in in in in during my
Sixth Form years I I joined the IB course as as it it it provided a a a a a vast opportunity to be in contact with various
subjects subjects in various
fields For my
higher-level subjects subjects I chose Biology Chemistry
and Economics Malvern has given me the opportunity to study genetics in biology classes and also on my
own terms I enjoyed writing
my
extended essay on how effective a a a a particular gene therapy was to treat sickle cell disease and focused on the the tribal populations of India Moreover I I enjoyed preparing and presenting my
Wheeler Bennett Society presentation on on Genetic Mutations and Evolution These opportunities have confirmed my
passion for biology and I I was was sure I I was was going to to apply to to universities with a a a course centred around the biological sciences Much to my
surprise I got an offer from Columbia University during my
Christmas vacation to study biological sciences and I am planning on attending the university this August After university I aspire to to focus on doing laboratory research on cures for genetic diseases ”
