metal and old metal are joined. There is always that one last hole and inevitably it has thin metal around it resulting in the metal melting producing a bigger hole than before. Perseverance pays off and eventually all holes were filled with metal, the grinder came out to get the spot welds flat, then a little skim of filler and it was done.
More sanding of the rest of the front half of the metal roof and the intricate details around the sunroof opening still takes ages but every time you stand up, one of the key visuals will be the edges of the sunroof hole so it needs to be done properly.
Next up is yet more sanding of the front half of the roof and the sunroof hole before I can prime it all then top coat the metal roof. The holes are drilled for the hinges of the plastic roof and that can be removed from its current position lashed under the carport roof. Only then can I change the roof of the carport from the broken clear plastic that recent storms have broken and replace that with something stronger or at least less brittle.
Then the green needs to go on, windows in, check why the electrics I mentioned are not working and start final assembly of the posh bits. Purchased since last issue are a starter battery because I finally needed it, bulbs, battery clamps, clips, covers and other posh bits and I found a local place selling a reversing sensor kit for £9. The rear bumper is still in primer, so the timing was ideal, although that wiring probably won’t work for that either!
