Stairs – hard Floors
Assemble equipment: Hazard warning signs PPE (Uniform, gloves, suitable footwear) mopping equipment – Mop and Bucket - Blue, Blue micro- bre cloths – scouring pad.
Remember!
 On stairs use as little water as necessary.
 Do not use soaps as these can make the  oor slippery.  Avoid splashing cleaning chemical, particularly if the
stairway is an open plan design.
 Wipe any splashes away.
 Ensure the bucket is never left on a step or edge. Be aware of
a potential trip hazard whilst working backwards down stairs.  Only return hazard warning signs to store when  oor
is completely dry.
Method of work
 Sweep or vacuum the stairs, from top to bottom, paying particular attention to edges and corners Prepare cleaning solution in a bucket and start adding cleaning chemical to the water.
 Always start at the top and work your way down Wipe the stairs with overlapping  gure 8 strokes Use scouring pad to remove stubborn marks and clean corners.
 Ensure bucket is not placed close to the edge of the step.  Continue down the stairs using the cloth or the Scouring pad, as necessary Pay particular attention to the edges
and corners.
 Rinse the cloth frequently and change the cleaning
solution when dirty.
