Stairs – hard Floors
Assemble equipment: Hazard warning signs PPE (Uniform, gloves, suitable footwear) mopping equipment – Mop and Bucket - Blue, Blue micro- bre cloths – scouring pad.
Remember!
On stairs use as little water as necessary.
Do not use soaps as these can make the oor slippery. Avoid splashing cleaning chemical, particularly if the
stairway is an open plan design.
Wipe any splashes away.
Ensure the bucket is never left on a step or edge. Be aware of
a potential trip hazard whilst working backwards down stairs. Only return hazard warning signs to store when oor
is completely dry.
Method of work
Sweep or vacuum the stairs, from top to bottom, paying particular attention to edges and corners Prepare cleaning solution in a bucket and start adding cleaning chemical to the water.
Always start at the top and work your way down Wipe the stairs with overlapping gure 8 strokes Use scouring pad to remove stubborn marks and clean corners.
Ensure bucket is not placed close to the edge of the step. Continue down the stairs using the cloth or the Scouring pad, as necessary Pay particular attention to the edges
and corners.
Rinse the cloth frequently and change the cleaning
solution when dirty.
