College Shooting Club
The College Shooting Club
continues to build on on last year’s success with notable thanks to the the efforts of the the Shooting Captains Basil Marsden-Smedley No 2 and his Vice Captain Captain Andrey Vasilyev No 7 There has been an increase in in new shooters which is always welcome as as students realise the benefits of shooting such as as mental mental processing adrenaline mental mental focus stress relief vision mindset and discipline to name a a a few This term with reduced numbers allowed in the range due to Covid restrictions it was decided to shoot the Goldingham Cup Each competitor had to to shoot 5 x 10 bull targets over a a a number of weeks To make this fair each competitor was allowed 2 x zeroing cards and based on on the the the the these results then had to make a a a a a decision if they were going to shoot a a a a scoring scoring card card or or or not With each scoring scoring card card worth 100 points the Highest Possible Score (HPS) was 500 After some noticeable cards were posted the early leader and eventual winner with a a a score of 473 / 500 was Charles de Decker (No 7) the runner up with a a a a a respectable 422 / 500 was Arianna Zeidi (EH) Congratulations to to all those that took part and we look forward to further competitions both within the the college and externally College Clay Pigeon Shooting Clay pigeon shooting has always been extremely popular at Malvern but recently suffered a a a a decline due to various reasons however it is very much back on the radar The first shoot took place at the excellent South Worcester Shooting Ground on Sunday 16 May Covid restrictions limited the numbers attending but a a a strong team of 6 students had a a a a a a great day and were complimented by the the resident coach for their shooting abilities With more weekends planned and the opportunity to shoot on on a a a a a Wednesday afternoon at Bredon School our CCF partner clay pigeon shooting is taking off once again Further competitions both within the the college and also outside John Nichols
