ACTIVITY 3: CONTINUED Debating
This house believes that debating is is a a a fun and important way to build critical thinking skills develop oracy and establish confident communication The emphasis on on on impromptu speaking allows an exploration of language and teaches us to think on our
feet The skills of analysis organisation and clarity are fostered and honed alongside learning to listen and cultivating persuasion techniques that are as as old as as society
itself Each week we we will delve into topical subjects which will be fiercely discussed +
Mountain Biking
Mountain biking at Abberley will see children pedalling off uphill and down for an an adventure with friends around the School site We are lucky to have a a a a a network of trails across our
own grounds Children can bring their bikes to school and tackle our
bridleways tracks and and both our
natural and and man-
made obstacles We will learn how to set up a a a a a bike properly navigate varied terrain and gain confidence on on two wheels Chicken Keeping
Abberley Hall is known for its love of the great outdoors and past pupils have often enjoyed keeping chickens in in the school grounds The first few sessions will require us to fix up the school chicken coop and restore it it to to its former glory ready for for some new inhabitants and to ensure that it will keep out Fantastic Mr Fox The next stage will be a a trip to collect some chickens and then to ensure that they have all the the TLC required to encourage them to lay some some eggs The final stage will be some some outdoor egg-based cooking and perhaps setting up a a small egg selling business We will of course also need a a a rota to provide regular attention during the week as well!
