Goodbye and Welcome (continued...) Welcome to Joel Smith
Joel is an experienced teacher and sports coach and we are delighted to welcome him to Abberley to cover for Kim Green, who is now on maternity leave. Joel will be supporting Mr Hiles in the DM department but we are also benefiting from his experience as a Maths teacher, Swimming coach and all round sports coach. Joel is an excellent addition to the staff room! In his own words,
‘I wanted to join Abberley to work at a school with outstanding facilities, a history of excellence and a beautiful setting to help guide young children through their education and to provide them with a multitude of skills for their journey ahead. Thus far it has not disappointed. I am also an avid believer in helping guide and nurture student’s natural curiosity to design and build new and creative projects and look forward to the year ahead in the DM department. Furthermore, as a keen sportsman, with a passion for the outdoors and wildlife, I look forward to supporting the Games department as well as the Saturday enrichment program. Having been a Swimmer and Coach at Worcester Swimming Club for the last 12 years I have been fortunate to compete at National competitions, most recently at the World Masters Championships in Budapest.

I am eager to pass on my expertise to help continue the success of previous Abberley teams in competing locally and nationally, not just in swimming but in a wide variety of sports. I would like to say a massive thank you to all staff and children for the warm welcome I have received.’
Mrs Dobson-Morris – Two Half Marathons this Summer
In August and September Mrs Dobson Morris is running two half marathons. She is raising money for Cancer Research, in memory of her father and running the London Landmarks Half Marathon in August for The Royal British Legion and doing the Great North Run in September. If you would like to sponsor her for either of these runs then please use the following links.

I hope you have a wonderful and well-deserved Half Term break in the sunshine. We can’t wait to welcome you all back to what will be a very busy second half of term.
I look forward to seeing parents at the various events we have planned and at school fixtures. I hope that the sun shines and that we can all enjoy Abberley Hall in all its splendour.
