ABBERLEY ADVENTURES

Boarding (continued...)
Weekends next half of term
There are just two weekends for boarders after Half Term and we hope that we will have a full turnout for both:
» 12th and 13th June: A relaxed first weekend back with a Saturday night movie and popcorn and a Pool Party on the Sunday afternoon.
» 26th and 27th June: After a fun-filled Saturday of picnics, a fair and other fun and games, boarders will enjoy a Tropical Summer Party on the Saturday night (Hawaiian shirts encouraged) and then on the Sunday we are going en masse to New Road in Worcester to watch the Worcestershire Rapids Vitality Cricket Match against Leicestershire.
Any day children, weekly or part-time boarders who want to stay in and join our Full Boarders for either of these weekends can sign up on a first-come, first-served basis by emailing toby.dunham@abberleyhall.co.uk. The ad hoc nightly fee of £50 includes the cost of the activities but spaces are limited so please book early!
Bedtimes
The first week back after Half Term is school assessment week and so bedtimes will be half an hour earlier during the week to make sure the children are well rested. Once assessments are finished we will have slightly later bedtimes to make the most of the summer evenings!
Tuck Boxes
A reminder that these are for Full Boarders only. As the children have access to sweets and chocolate from the tuck shop I would like to encourage the use of these tuck boxes to be more cake, biscuit, crisp based..... This will become much stricter from September to try to introduce tighter control over the amount of sugar consumed but we would appreciate parental support with this please.
Sleeping Bags
We have invested in some smart new tents and there will be opportunities for the children to camp out in the school grounds from time to time in the second half of term so it would be really good if as many Full and Weekly Boarders as possible bring in sleeping bags. We do have spares if this is a problem.
Wednesday House Night
House Night has quickly become a highlight and a new tradition for our boarders. Wednesday night is barbeque night, with music blaring, wonderful food cooked on our new barbeque and a really relaxed atmosphere. This has also resulted in Wednesdays going from being one of our quietest boarding nights to now being one of our busiest! Please get in touch if you would like your child to join us on a Wednesday night.
Bonjour!
Arriving during Half Term to quarantine at school, we are delighted to be welcoming nine new French pupils to Abberley – one in Year 6, five in Year 7 and three in Year 8. These children will be with us until the end of term and are coming to immerse themselves in the English language and culture. If anyone would like to volunteer to host one or more of these pupils for the exeat on 18th June until 20th June then we would be extremely grateful. If so then could you please email toby.dunham@abberleyhall.co.uk
