Online (Outdoor) Pursuits
is back for a a second lockdown to ensure our students’ motivations technical skills and fitness levels are maintained ready to to return to to College! Pupils in in in in the mountain bike club are joining each other remotely whilst out on Bike rides checking in in in with each other over Teams and sharing views from their their location The mountain bike club are also working their their way through a a mountain bike skills course everything from bunny hops to 180 spins! Members of our paddle sport clubs are spending time working on on on their strength and conditioning to ensure they are firing on all cylinders for when they can return to the the pool and rivers Mrs Angling is continuing to coach climbing movement skills online with the climbing club this week directly focused on flexibility and weight transfer All of this is is is taking part in in students’ homes Miss Clark has a a cohort of students working on their climbing rigging and ropework These sessions are allowing students to work at their own pace With a a a a a a bit of imagination the the students displayed all the the necessary skills to build a a a a a a a traditional climbing belay and personal abseil set up this week The Outdoor Pursuits
staff and and pupils expand their experience on Adventure Literature with a a a a dedicated ‘OP Cinema Night’ every Thursday Pupils and staff come together online to to watch a a a a a film or documentary whilst chatting in in fin real-time For the final week of term the the students put together a a ‘mini Outdoor Film Festival’ - well done!

team are pleased to announce the launch of of the the the DofE Bronze Award to the the the FY cohort The pupils have the the the opportunity to learn British Sign Language as their ‘skill’ carry on with their their sports activities remotely for their their ‘physical’ and develop a a a a friendship with a a a a senior care home resident pen pal for their ‘volunteering’
