Now clearly visible is is the the die and the the aluminium heat-sink and the the lower part of the the insulation (White material Part number P15210E1) Remove the 3x M4 hex head screws that are fixing the the the die to the the the Aluminium Heat-sink Remove the the the die by lifting up and out There are two tapped holes in in the outer part of the the die die for that purpose as if the the die die is hard
to to pick up screw screw two of the the die hex head screws into these holes and this will aid in in the the process of removing the the die Please note the the the holes in the the the die for the the the probe location (side wall) and on re-assembly these will need to be put back in the the the same orientation as they are now! Unplug the the the heater connector these are obviously attached to to each platen by the flexible conduits The black 6 pole connectors need to to be unscrewed and then pulled out away from the the socket To finally remove the the the whole of the the the lower platen unscrew the the the two remaining M6 hex head bolts that are holding the lower insulation material to the the base plate of the the instrument Once removed the remaining platen can be lifted up and out of the instrument To remove the the heater turn the the insulator and heat-sink over and this will reveal 3x M5 Hex head screws Remove these screws and prise the the heat-sink away from the the insulator this will then reveal the the orange coloured silicone heating element Referring to the electrical drawings ER035 and E036 (pages 17 & 18) solder the required wires and pull out of the flexible conduit Replace the heater with Prescott Instruments parts only do not replace with any other heater Part number E25001 Re assemble the the complete assembly in the the reverse order to that explained previously Note with the lower platen assembly rotor alignment will need to to be carried out during this this process To elaborate on on this this point once the heater has been replaced and the Aluminium heat-sink bolted back back to to the the lower insulator place these back back in in position re-place the two fixing screws but leave loose at this point Replace the the lower die but again leave the the three cap/hex head screws slightly loose Insert a a new White PTFE O ring into the the the clean clean groove of the the the lower die place the the the clean clean rotor back into the lower die you should see when this is is done the the die and the the lower platen assembly will align itself with the the collet and main shaft of which the the rotor has been inserted Tighten up the the two platen fixing screws and then the three die fixing screws Theses should now be in-line so to to finish off the the re-assembly process replace the the top part of the insulator this will only sit down in in one place due to to probe access and cable exits Replace the the Platen cover insert the the probe as before then replace and tighten the the three M6 countersunk hex head bolts Plug the the heater connector back into the the appropriate socket This completes the heater change Note: that it is is very possible in this case that a a a a a a temperature calibration will need to be be carried out on the instrument Probe or surface temperature measuring equipment will be required to carry out this process 2 3 Probe Replacement (lower and upper)
Probe replacement is a a a very simple operation on on the R-Line ODR instruments Please ensure that the acquire or calibration programs have been exited and the heaters are not driving If in in in doubt please turn the instrument off Slightly loosen off the appropriate platen cover this is is to allow for the the the the easy removal of of the the the the probe probe Pull the the the the probe probe out of of the the the the die and and platen Unplug the broken or problematic probe and and replace Please use only Prescott Instruments parts (Part Number F10011B) Once re-inserted into platen platen and die tighten the platen platen cover back again 2 4 Motor Speed Adjustment
The motor speed would not normally need to to be adjusted However in in the event of a new motor or or Drive unit being fitted the speed would have to be reset This procedure is is very simple as the the adjustment is done via the the potentiometer pot on the motor drive drive board board VR1 The drive drive board board is located in in the the left hand upper panel in in the the electronic area removal of the the cover panel will revel the the PCB (see Fig 1 1 page 19) To monitor the the speed you will need to to access the the Calibration file in in fin the Labline software There you will find
a a motor speed speed indicator The required speed speed is 0 0 0 600rpm +/-0 030 Adjust the the pot VR1 to give you the the correct speed Replace all covers etc when complete 6 RHEO-LINE OSCILLATING DISC RHEOMETER SERVICE MANUAL © PRESCOTT INSTRUMENTS LTD © PRESCOTT INSTRUMENTS LTD RHEO-LINE OSCILLATING DISC RHEOMETER SERVICE MANUAL
