 ABBERLEY BUZZ
  BOARDING
Boarding is a really important part of what makes Abberley Hall such a special place for children to grow up. Our boarding accommodation is situated in the stunning main house of the school with staff on hand 24 hours a day to make sure children feel happy and supported.
The boarding team at Abberley Hall consists of my wife Charlotte and I (and our three boys) who run the boys’ boarding house, Miss Hannah Ryan who runs the girls’ boarding house, our resident Medical Matron who is onsite 24/7 to see to the medical needs of the children, Mr and Mrs Besley and a number of other staff who contribute daily to the boarding house. As Houseparents, we have regular contact with our parents, guardians and agents, letting
them know how the children are settling into school life and sending regular photographs and updates. We like parents to feel a part of their child’s adventure, even from a distance!
Every evening we hold school activities which range from the academic work sessions to computer coding to dancing, fencing and fishing. There is something exciting on every night of the week for all children to enjoy.
Our weekends are huge fun, busy and very popular. At weekends there are always two planned activities: one on the Saturday evening and one during the day on the Sunday. The Saturday activity tends to be a whole house occasion
like a UV disco, a Harry Potter themed Yule Ball, a quiz night, camping out or a cinema night. We also enjoy different nights to celebrate our international boarders with Chinese New Year celebrations, a Spanish fiesta or maybe a Korean food tasting. Sunday then tends to be an activity like Inflatable Fun, Nerf Wars, Scavenger Hunt, Laser Tag in the wood or outdoor games. Children also get time to relax and unwind after a busy week of learning. The children end the weekend by writing a postcard home to let their families know what they have been up to.
Abberley Hall is an immersive, vibrant place to live. Our boarders have a fantastic time with us and bring so much
to our community. We have children from all over the UK and indeed the world with us, bringing elements of their own culture into the Worcestershire countryside. All of the children learn so much from each other, both academically and socially. As staff we are there to oversee their wellbeing and development and to ensure that the children have the happiest of school adventures.
Please do feel free to get in touch with me directly if you would like to discuss anything to do with boarding at Abberley on toby.dunham@abberleyhall.co.uk.
