Lyall Foyer
Alan died in 2017, aged 84, after a life dedicated to the legal profession and to his great passion, outdoor pursuits. A keen mountaineer, he climbed the Matterhorn in Switzerland in 1962, and climbed Mount Snowdon over 500 times. Indeed, he retired to Snowdonia where he wrote several books on the subject of mountaineering.
As the primary beneficiary of Alan’s will, the Malvernian Society received a transformative legacy from his estate.
Alan’s gift is the most significant bequest to the Malvernian Society to date and is already having an enormous impact. Following Alan’s wishes, a large proportion of his gift now supports Assisted Places through
the Malvernian Society’s endowment fund. His gift has also supported the Rogers Theatre, making possible the new-build Lyall Foyer; and, recognising Alan’s love of the outdoors, we have also made provision
for the support of outdoor pursuits.
We are immensely grateful to Alan for his generous legacy
