Mainstay: Response to Tender | Project Acanthus - Part One
All employees receive Equality training as part of our Employee Services induction process. We give line managers coaching and guidance on all areas that may impact on this policy to assist them in their day to day managerial duties.
As well as this, Mainstay strives to recruit team members locally to illustrate to our residents that Mainstay and the onsite team are invested in the long-term development and growth of the area, as well as the development of the local economy and residents in the wider local area. Our teams enjoy supporting local council schemes and charities, and participate in fund raising or events.
Mainstay always looks at ways to introduce greater sustainability into the management of our schemes by examining
recycling opportunities and ways of reducing power and fuel consumption. Through our facilities management team and external providers, we work with numerous industry leading partners to bring new energy and cost saving technology to the forefront of our asset management services, such as LED lighting initiatives which demonstrably provide significant
and immediate savings for our customers. Our use of energy supplier, Ecotricity, means that 100% of our energy is produced using eco-friendly and sustainable methods. We also recognise how important it is to be alert and knowledgeable about eco-friendly build products and methods. We work with
our clients to advise on best practice, future maintenance planning and cost implications.
Examples of such products:
» Energy efficient lighting
» Recycling strategies
» Rainwater harvesting
» Green roofs/walls
» Photovoltaic and solar panel systems
» Combined heat and power (CHP) systems
» Biomass heating
Within our own business, we have taken huge strides in reducing our carbon footprint across all areas in partnership with our clients and supply chain.
Our initiatives range from smart working, to reducing journey times and distances, to paperless billing.
Sustainable living requires us to work as part of the wider community and not only be involved in them, but to take ownership to think of innovative ways to contribute to the sustainability of the communities we work with. From waste management - in working with the British Heart Foundation to recycle bulky waste item - to creating and teaching how to maintain Grow Gardens, we are committed to working with Freeholders, the Local Authority, neighbouring properties, charities and local organisations to make the area a desirable and sustainable place to live.
