Alcohol and Saturday night arrangements
General points
• Under no circumstances must alcohol be given to a pupil who is not in the Sixth Form.
• Mid-week alcohol. Must inform Deputy Head Pastoral/Senior Deputy Head in advance.
• The Longy limit is the absolute alcohol limit for any pupil on one evening.
• Longy limits:
• 3 alcoholic drinks for U6th pupils.
• The limit for L6th pupils is 2 alcoholic drinks at the start of the year. This is reviewed during the Spring/Summer terms and the L6th Longy limit may be increased to 3 alcoholic drinks. This will be published by the Deputy Head Pastoral.
Saturday nights
• Please email names of any pupils who should not be drinking alcohol or who are on a reduced alcohol limit for any reason (e.g. medication) to Phil Stafford.
• Each week, please email names of any pupils who have not eaten supper to Phil Stafford.
• Good practice is ‘cheese and biscuits’ (or equivalent) when pupils return from Longy. This gives you a chance to spend time with pupils to see if there are any concerns. It encourages them to eat and drink some fluids (non-alcoholic). It should also hopefully be an enjoyable social occasion.
Saturday Pub chits for U6th
• Upon turning 18, pupils must meet with the Deputy Head Pastoral before being granted a pub chit.
• Pupils may only go to Wetherspoons (The Foley Arms).
• The three drink Longy limit applies.
• Pupils must not drink alcoholic spirits.
• Usual school rules apply e.g. no vaping or smoking.
• Duty staff visit pubs on Saturday night to make sure that these rules are being followed.
• Pupils may attend Saturday Longy before going uptown. They cannot come to Longy after going uptown.
• Pupils must not go uptown before 8.30pm on Saturday night. They must be in House before 10.30pm.
• Please be strict about 10.30pm curfew.
